red planet landscape
With this exterior render, I have concluded Andrew Price’s Learn 3D in 4 Weeks curriculum. It starts with donuts and other small items before zooming out to a landscape scene. Andrew recommends a desert setting for simplicity, and I used images of Mars as references.
Procedural landscape generation
Near the end of this project, well after I manually created the general shape of the ground, I discovered Blender’s ANT Landscape add-on. If you’re interested in rendering a landscape, definitely check out this add-on to automate the least interesting part of making an exterior scene.
Assets used
As Andrew recommends, I incorporated free assets.
- The alien is “Raymond” from Mixamo.com.
- The ground texture and rocks are from Poliigon.com.
